Are Apple m1 chips still good?

I had a discussion and conversation with my friend Erik the other day. He said he was still using his 16" M1 mac - he used to work for Apple. 

I have my 2021 13" m1 mac and I would agree that here I'm working on it for over an hour the battery after charging to full over night is at 89% - it doesn't lag when I switch apps or use it. 8gb of memory on it is enough for basic stuff, the audio is good - like what more do you want? I think a 16gb version with a solid 1tb SSD drive and a bigger 16" screen would be a great back up computer or trading rig - or on the go computer - $500 on a quick Ebay.com search and found a few from 2021 and even a 8 core i9 Intel chip in 2019 - both solid options.

Computer is a essential tool for every day work and trading - and budget can be an issue when thinking wow I need $5000 to trade + $3000 for a computer and I still need $25,000 to avoid the pattern day trading rule on top of that. No, I think that is all good and true that you can strive for that but $500 for a budget computer that works like new - $2500 to trade and maybe another $500 to place a bet or parse into 5 $100 bets.
